The Eickhorn Aviator I (formerly named ASEK-I-Bowie), NSN 1095-25-151-1583 (Norway) / 1095-12-361-3908 (Germany), was developed to meet the requirements of the american "Aircrew Survival Egress Knife" program.

It features a Sandwich-Construction Eickhorn Professional blade capable with a saw designed to enable cutting of laminated safety glass found in NATO aircraft. The black Kalgard coating inhibits reflection and slows corrosion. (Seat-)belt and Rope cutting becomes effortless using the integrated belt cutter and/or serrated edge. The Glass-Reinforced Nylon handle is electrically insulated and a hardened glass breaker is threaded into the butt of the knife. The handle also features an eyelet for lanyard attachment.
